Case of Matthew Davis (July 16, 2025)
Matthew Davis, who served as Recreation Manager, filed suit against the City of Ojai and other parties, alleging whistleblower retaliation, retaliation for raising workplace safety concerns, and wrongful termination. According to the complaint, Davis reported misuse of City resources and ordinance violations, after which he claims he faced mounting pressure, public campaigns for his removal, and ultimately separation from the City. City Manager Ben Harvey is referenced as having hired Davis, directed him to investigate issues, and later overseen employment decisions, but the City of Ojai is the named defendant. The allegations have not been adjudicated.
